I make my art by programming in my own computer language. The generated images are printed strictly in editions of 1/1.
Currently my technique is based on biologically inspired algorithms, rather 'growing' my models then 'sculpting'.
Despite the highly scientifically and technologically based processes, the goal is not, like a lot of 'computer art', a visualization of algorithms. Rather, my goal is the expression of very personal visions.
My earlier works were made in a mindset akin to 'abstract expressionism', emphasizing
the textural properties of my processes. However, I grew increasingly frustrated
with this approach. Despite getting a lot of exposure in specialized exhibitions
(Siggraph), and invitations to venues like the Sausalito Art Festival, I felt
the challenge of creating more 'figurative', 'associative' depictions, without
descending into illustrative representations. Among my influences are: Francis
Bacon, Anselm Kiefer, Marcel Duchamp, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miró, Yves
Tanguy and Willem de Kooning.
